First Round of National Junior Angus Show Deadlines Fast Approaching
If you’ve been to the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), you know it’s a time of camaraderie like none other. If you’ve organized a crew for all the contests, activities and shows, you know the more there is for youth and adults to do, the more deadlines to track.

To help you prepare for the NJAS in Grand Island, Neb., in July, here’s a roundup of some of the upcoming dates and links to where you can learn more:
New Awards in PGS Show
Don’t forget, entries for the Phenotype and Genotype Show at the NJAS are due May 15. Reminder that DNA must be on file with the Association by May 15th, all PGS animals must be AngusGS or HD50K tested.
Thanks to several generous sponsors, the 2023 Grand Champion PGS Heifer will receive $2,000, and the Reserve Champion PGS Heifer will receive $1,500.
Newly added, a Grand and Reserve Champion Bred-and-Owned PGS female will also be named.

Attention All Runners
The California Junior Angus Association invites you to sign up for a 5K run/walk around the Nebraska State Fairgrounds on Tuesday, July 4, during NJAS. The race begins at 7:00 a.m. Sign up here by May 15. Cost to participate is $35, which includes a race bib, finisher’s medal, and a ’23 NJAS 5K ballcap. Round up to the $40 option to donate to the Angus Impact Community Service program.
Be a Hero, Volunteer
The Event and Activities department is seeking volunteers to help judge the many contests hosted throughout the week of the NJAS. Contests vary greatly in content and intent, so there is a place for everyone to help out. There are both virtual and in-person contests, giving volunteers the flexibility to choose what works best.
Visit https://www.angus.org/njaa/home/contests for information on each contest. Volunteers should register by May 15, and can sign up on this form: https://www.angusonline.org/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2Fnjaa%2Fonlinecontest
Serve a School, Show your Angus Impact
Angus Impact is the official NJAS community service program, encouraging members and state associations to make their mark, leave an impact and “be the change” through acts of service.
This year’s Angus Impact theme is “Service to Schools,” challenging all NJAA members to take your impact past NJAA events and into your local communities! The NJAA will recognize any state association that conducts more than two acts of service from August 2022–June 2023. Service projects will be highlighted at the 2023 NJAS and on NJAA social media.

Golf Tournament Sponsorship Deadlines Loom; Player Registration Due Next Month
The Angus Foundation invites all golf and Angus enthusiasts to enjoy a day on the green at its annual golf tournament, hosted in conjunction with the 2023 NJAS. The event, which benefits the Angus Foundation’s mission of supporting Angus education, youth and research, will be hosted Tuesday, July 4, at the Indianhead Golf Club in Grand Island. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
The 2023 event will be hosted in memory of William “Bill” Davis of Belgrade, Mont. Davis, who passed away in 2022 after a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer, was a passionate Angus breeder and avid golfer. With the support of Davis’s family and friends, the golf outing is sponsored in his honor.
To offer support, options are available for state and regional Angus associations, individuals, businesses, farms and ranches. There are promotional opportunities at eight sponsorship levels: luncheon, beverage/player cart, tournament prizes, clubhouse, hole-in-one, tee box, hole and flag. The sponsorship deadline is June 3.
Player registration remains open until June 20. Adult registration is $100, and NJAA registration is $75. Players receive 18 holes of golf, golf cart rental, continental breakfast and Certified Angus Beef® brand lunch. Mulligans will be available at the course for $10 each, with a limit of one per player. After the registration deadline, adult player registration will be $110 and junior members will be $85.
For player registration, sponsorship opportunities or more information about the golf tournament, contact Kris Sticken with the Angus Foundation at 816-383-5100, or visit www.AngusFoundation.org.
